There seemed to be a lack of authenticity about the time it was set, it did not feel like the early 80s either visually or in character dynamics. The CGI effects just don’t have the visceral charm of the original and overexposure of the thing is at the detriment of suspense and tension which is such a feature of the 1982 version. But, the acting is pretty good, Nordic actors give it an authentic feel and I will watch anything with Tormund Giantsbane in it.
