The Taking of Deborah Loan took a unique take on Alzheimers disease. Without adding spoilers, the situation is ripe for the supernatural to take root. The various characters added to the tension – my favorite is the guy who basically says “I’m sticking around for this horror movie! Fuck you!” (Pretty much the smartest horror movie character you can find!) Jill Larson, who we first see with horror chops in SHUTTER ISLAND as a deranged patient, gets the eerie spotlight and does a bang-up job giving us the creeps. The director and writer, Robitel, takes us on a harrowing ending that was truly surprising and disgusting. Excellent.
