This has to be said. As you know, I am very active on Twitter, and have a very large following. You cannot have a large following without a great service to cull and manage the heard. I love my fans, there is no doubt about it. However, anyone who never tweets, 30 days inactive, or doesn’t have the common courtesy of a common dog and cannot follow back, well, they get clipped.
Now, I don’t care you are, editorially speaking but Twitter is not something you act vicariously upon. You jump in, you make things happen, or you get lost, and quit taking up oxygen. I know colleagues who have over 250,000 people listed, but only 12,300 active. The rest are dead, dying, never tweeted, and the likes. Now I ask you, is just numbers important — Is that your aim?
What good is these high numbers when such a high percentage are dead weight? They buy nothing, they sell nothing, they are NOTHING!
For me, as with Bleeding Critic and others, this is an extension of our business in independent horror that far exceeds any boring Hollywood ambition.
Now I want you to really chew on this; not everyone is for me, and I am not for everyone and never intended to be in the first place. My tweets are dark and edgy like my writing, eBook novels, and comments concerning a genre I love and believe in.
Numbers to me are just that, numbers. It’s the supporting fans that later invest their time, Re-Tweeting, and money to build upon a friendship. DarkWorks is an International thing that doesn’t recognize countries, nationalities, creed, color, or religion. If you’re into adult orientated horror then join Bleedingcritic who also is beyond borders and so very many like us.
